Team Matooke

We Run Kampala

Team Matooke is a vibrant community of endurance runners based in Kampala, united by a shared love for distance running, discipline, and camaraderie. The club brings together athletes of all levels from first-time long-distance runners to seasoned marathoners who train, challenge themselves, and grow stronger together on Uganda’s most iconic road route.

At the heart of Team Matooke’s calendar is the Kampala–Entebbe Monthly Run, a signature endurance challenge held every second Sunday of the month. Covering distances between 10 km and 42 km, this run follows the scenic highway linking Kampala to Entebbe, offering participants a structured, safe, and motivating environment to test stamina, build resilience, and prepare for major races. What began as a small group run has grown into a recognized monthly ritual for the city’s distance-running community.

Beyond the miles, Team Matooke stands for consistency, accountability, and support. Members benefit from organized pacing groups, route safety coordination, hydration planning, and peer encouragement that make long-distance training achievable and enjoyable. The club fosters a culture where no runner is left behind and every milestone whether a first 30 km finish or a new personal best is celebrated.

Team Matooke is more than a running club; it is a movement that promotes healthy living, mental toughness, and meaningful friendships forged on the road between Kampala and Entebbe.
